Where will you be three months from now? I know where I’ll be. Ten-percent lighter, that’s where. Today, I and a group of other dedicated readers are starting The Explorer’s Drop 10 Percent Challenge. My goal is to drop 10 percent of my current weight by the end of summer, which for our weight-loss purposes is Wednesday, Aug. 31.

Losing 10 percent of my body weight has nothing to do with getting into a bathing suit for summer. It’s about getting healthy one small step at a time. Last week, I invited readers to join me in my journey toward better health, and many of you did! I heard from people who are getting married this year and want to look great for their big day. From a future grandmother who wanted to be able to keep up with the babies. And from people who haven’t yet shared their reasons for taking the challenge. That’s OK. Sharing is not a requirement. Committing to one’s health is.

If you’d like to join us, drop me an email at exploreyourhealth@explorernews.com. Put “Drop 10 Percent” in the subject line. In return, I’ll send you a weekly health tip and words of encouragement.

In addition, The Explorer will feature weight-loss-related news in our Health & Wellness pages that appear on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. I have a lot of fun and informative features in mind! The paper also will periodically profile Challenge participants, include their tips on weight-loss techniques that are working for them, and stories about challenges they’re overcoming.

I strongly encourage you to consult your doctor before starting any weight-loss program, whether it’s modifying your eating habits or beginning a workout regimen. I have, and I know my limitations.

As I said last week, I can’t guarantee losing weight will be easy, but it will be well worth it. There is power in numbers, so email me today.

Can’t start today? No problems. Join us anytime you like. We’ll be here for you.
