Just in time for the Halloween season, director Kimberly Peirce’s new rendition of the classic horror film, Carrie, will hit U.S. theaters on Oct. 18. The second big screen adaptation to Stephen King’s popular novel will star Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore. The story revolves around the telekinetic abilities of a high school outcast, who uses her power to inflict revenge upon her tormenting peers. In order to promote the upcoming film, producers have been making use of an intense marketing campaign that has made heavy use of modern social media. One social media promotion that attracted much attention occurred when a prank was played in a New York coffee shop. A team of promoters staged a telekinetic altercation between a girl and a patron, which terrified bystanders and spread wildly across the Internet. Indeed, the film producers have succeeded in creating a buzz about their product, but one must question whether or not the product is worth selling in the first place.
For most males born after the year 1970, entire chapters of childhood are in someway intertwined with the Star Wars universe. We have all levitated objects across the room with our make believe force capabilities, attempted to utilize jedi mind tricks to persuade our mothers that ice cream before bed was a good idea, and had heroic battles with vibrant buzzing lightsabers (that in reality, were made of gift wrap rolls).

American Idol - The AI special, held Sunday night, was featured on the U.S.S. Midway in San Diego. The Catalina Foothills High School marching band performed on the Midway last year on a special trip, but they aren't the only musicians to hit a high note on this retired military ship. Tons of yellow tickets were handed out, including one to actor Jim Carrey's daughter!
American Idol- The biggest thing on TV this week was the much anticipated season 11 premiere this week. The auditions, which took place in Georgia and Pittsburgh were marked by a surprising amount of fantastic singers.
January is the season of shows returning from mid-season hiatuses and season premieres. These are a few of my favorite:

For the record, Wade Dunagan and Judy McDermott did not call an Australian newspaper to plant a story that Tiger Woods may come out of seclusion to play in the World Golf Championships – Accenture Match Play Championship next week at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain.
Man, there was sure some kind of hubbub on Sunday.

User-generated video, or UGV, is a snappy term coined in the digisphere to denote home-grown footage of everything from little Joey’s first birthday to clandestine news footage of Tibetan monks in rebellion.
