(BPT) - Efficiency is the name of the game these days. At the office it comes into play in processing work quickly and at a lower cost. At home, efficiency means being able to get the household and landscaping chores done so you can spend time with the family.
(StatePoint) While caring for your lawn can be pleasant, it needn’t take all day. Luckily, time saving tools can also save your body some wear and tear:
(BPT) - A gorgeous lawn is a key element of the American dream, since a lush, green, well-trimmed lawn makes your home look great. The mower you choose affects the health and beauty of your lawn, and directly impacts the amount of time and money you invest in lawn care.
NEW THIS WEEK
The Tucson Padres return home Wednesday, August 21 for a nine-game homestand, the final nine Triple-A games in Tucson. The first five games are against Tacoma (Mariners affiliate) and their prospect-filled starting rotation, including Taijuan Walker. The last four games are against Reno (Diamondbacks affiliate), the franchise that used to call Kino Stadium home as the Sidewinders. It was believed when the team moved to Reno following the 2008 season that Triple-A baseball was gone forever. Three years later the Tucson Padres and Triple-A baseball returned for the 2011 season. Tucson Padres General Manager Mike Feder said “you can never say never as far as Triple-A baseball returning to the Old Pueblo, but this is goodbye for now.”
After the first trailer premiered several months ago, “Pacific Rim” quickly became one of the most anticipated movies of the summer season. The advertisements haven’t divulged much about the film’s plot or characters. For the most part, they’ve only shown big monsters fighting big robots and Idris Elba giving a heated speech to his troops. That’s still more than enough to make any fanboy swoon like a teenage girl watching “Twilight.”
When the apocalypse comes down and the world is being destroyed by an endless stream of giant monsters that are determined to squash the human race, do you want to be one of those people running up the street screaming for help, or hiding in an underground bunker praying for the reptilian ragnarok to just go away; or do you want to helm a giant weaponized robot and give those malevolent lizards the what for? If you’re the latter, then the new film, Pacific Rim, is going to be your summertime cinematic savior.

The San Diego Padres and Tucson Padres have announced a new manager with strong Arizona ties. Pat Murphy, who for 15 seasons was the Arizona State University baseball coach, is the new manager of the Tucson Padres. As I grow older, I am far less tolerant of fools than in my youth. Sadly, the fools in “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” are the father of a troubled girl and the father’s girlfriend, both of whom ignore the girl’s problems. It took a lot of patience on my part to not scream at the characters, “You’re idiots.” Mostly, I sat and laughed at the lame action on the big screen.
Young Bailee Madison is a standout as Sally in Guillermo del Toro’s “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.” Her intense performance puts those of veteran actors Guy Pearce and Katie Holmes to shame.
In preparations for their first season, the Tucson Padres, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, have announced their front office staff. Baseball front office veterans, new additions and former athletes have joined the roster.
