The Arizona Interscholastic Association has ruled against the Mountain View High School football program after a special session of the AIA executive board. Mountain View was deemed to have committed two violations stemming from the enrollment of three former Tucson High players.

The current Boys Golf Rankings for 9/29/14 as calculated by CDO boys golf coach John Farbarik. Prior week email rankings are below. Many boys teams have reached or exceeded seven contests. Since the rankings use the best seven scores, those that have played eight or more have begun to drop their higher scores. This should result in lowering scores. Teams are allowed to play 14 competitions. Those that choose not to play the maximum number will have a disadvantage.
(NewsUSA) - The effective use of the VehSmart GPS device likely saved a trio of fishermen from Ecuador after their boat was attacked by robbers. The fishermen were sailing their small boat, Luis Miguel, southwest of the Santa Elena peninsula, when they were overtaken by robbers who stole their personal belongings and the boat's motor before locking them in a storage compartment, according to the Ecuadorean Navy (DIRNEA).
After losing their first game of the season, the Ironwood Ridge football team has now rattled off four straight wins and are serving notice that they believe they are the best team in Southern Arizona. The Nighthawks rushed for 328 yards in their 53-16 win over Buena and now appear to be on a collision course towards a late November showdown with defending state champion Salpointe.

Sahuarita improved to 5-0, beating Catalina Foothills 38-28 on Friday night. The Falcons are now 2-2 after the loss.
For the second straight week the CDO football team lost a game in the final moments, while also having to deal with a strange delay. Cienega beat CDO 23-18 in a game that saw the Bobcats take a late lead, then both teams have to deal with a 15 minute delay when the lights went out.

Three Mountain View football players have been held out of action while the Arizona Interscholastic Association continues to investigate allegations of improper conduct. The case was discussed during an executive session of the regularly scheduled AIA meeting last week.

The Pusch Ridge and Mountain View football teams were both in action on Friday night, but each had different results.
The AIA will not publish official boys golf rankings until 9/15. However, their formula is public and can be computed for Southern AZ teams before that date. Below are the unofficial rankings of Southern AZ teams for results played and posted by Sunday 9/7. The team with the lowest ranking in each section gets an automatic berth in their State Tournament. Eight at-large berths from non-section winners around the state will be given in each Division.

The Southern Arizona Salsa and Tequila Challenge has shaken up the summers in Tucson for three years, bringing the region’s cultural garden to modern day tastes buds. The culinary event brings up to 50 chefs and restaurants preparing unique salsa recipes and mixologists creating innovative tequila-based drinks along with sweet and savory menu pairings. Proceeds benefit the Food Bank of Southern Arizona and SAACA’s arts therapy and education programs.
The Pima County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a nearly $1.5 million partnership that will allow Pima Animal Care Center, Best Friends Animal Society, and PetSmart Charities to bring a lifesaving Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) project to Pima County.
