The statistics said Mountain View High School graduate Jessica Sipe should not have been there. She had a better chance of being pregnant than playing in a national championship game. She had a better chance of being in jail than being the potential go-ahead run. The statistics said she was far more likely to be in rehab than crossing home plate. However, Sipe decided at a young age that she was going to defy the odds.
Pima Community College softball outfielder Alexis Dotson added another accolade to her season on Wednesday as she was selected National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I First Team All-American.
The Aztecs softball season came to end in the championship series at Arizona Western College on Saturday. The Aztecs won their 1st game of the day but lost in the 1st game of the championship series. Pima finished the season with an overall record of 29-30.
Pima pitcher Marcel Renteria was named ACCAC Conference Division I Pitcher of the Week. He got wins against Arizona Western College and South Mountain. He pitched 13 2/3 innings giving up 2 runs (2 earned) with 14 strikeouts for the week.
The Aztecs baseball team split its conference doubleheader against Cochise College. The Aztecs are now 31-20 overall and 20-13 in ACCAC conference and are in 3rd place in the ACCAC Division I standings with 5 games to go in the regular season.
The Lady Aztecs softball team swept a doubleheader at El Paso Community College. Alexis Dotson went on a tear on offense going 7 for 9 with 6 RBIs, 2 runs, 2 stolen bases and 2 doubles on the day. Celina Martinez picked up a win and a save pitching 6 2/3 innings in 2 appearances giving up no runs. Pima now 16-19 overall.
The Pima Community College softball team (8-15, 6-10 in conference) continued to struggle on Saturday as the Lady Aztecs were swept at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher. Alexis Dotson went 4 for 7 in the doubleheader.
The Pima Community College softball team (8-13, 6-8 in conference) had its offense clicking on Tuesday but Central Arizona College did as well as the Lady Aztecs were swept at the West Campus.

The Pima Community College softball team (30-16, 22-12 in conference) earned its third straight sweep on the road defeating Scottsdale Community College on Thursday in Scottsdale. Alejandra Ortiz (Tucson Magnet HS) continued her dominance at the plate going 3-7 with four RBIs. She has 12 RBIs in the last four games.
