It rained. But the sun came back out.
This year's Architecture Week 2014, September 27 to October 5, promises a week of activities that combine great architecture with family activities, hike and bike tours, a celebration of Tucson's new Streetcar, and an 'edible' home tour.
Park Place is excited to welcome Yard House to its mix of dining and retail establishments. The modern public house known for its vast array of beers on tap will officially open August 28th. The opening of Yard House will bring approximately 200 new jobs to Tucson along with 130 draft beer selections and a menu full of American favorites, including burgers, tacos, steaks, seafood and ribs.
Even though the recession took a hard hit to cities throughout Arizona, residents can remain hopeful and optimistic – especially those in the town of Marana.
Last year, the Park Place Guitar Festival rocked with 25 performances, 800 kids creating paper guitars, 30 music- and instrument-dedicated exhibitors and a most righteous air guitar competition.
Marana continues to grow and stay strong, Mayor Ed Honea stressed during the annual State of the Town event on Friday.

Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance presents the second annual chalk festival with local established artists, amateur artists, children and attendees participating at Park Place Mall.
Jason McInerney and his wife, Melissa, recently tapped their lunch orders onto a touchscreen at the entrance to the Be Our Guest restaurant at Florida's Walt Disney World Resort and were told to take any open seat. Moments later a food server appeared at their table with their croque-monsieur and carved turkey sandwiches.

“Exciting” is the word used by Marana Town Manager Gilbert Davidson to describe the approaching 2014 calendar year as the town continues to trend in the right direction following the nation’s hard-hitting 2008 recession.
Each year brings the promise of exciting new opportunities for communities across the country. In Marana, we are optimistic that 2014 will be a year filled with positive developments that move our town forward in many ways.
Tucson shopping centers Park Place and Tucson Mall will open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday, Nov. 29, the biggest shopping day of the year. Holiday sales in the U.S. are expected to increase 3.9 percent to $602.1 billion, according to the National Retail Federation’s annual survey. Additionally, early birds and those walking off a big meal are welcome to visit the many stores that will be open by 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

During Hunger Action Month, a group of architecture-loving teams will call attention to the region’s hunger problem one food can at a time at the Park Place mall, Park Place, 5870 E. Broadway.
Presented by Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance and sponsored by Park Place, the Guitar Festival will include live music, Air Guitar Competition, giveaways, guitar show and swap, an improvisation jam, kids' activities, guitar orchestra and mariachi performances by local school groups, GuitART, vendors and exhibitors.
