Interfaith Community Services is topping off an extraordinary year by inviting the public to one or both of two annual Holiday Open Houses. The events will feature food, music and fellowship to celebrate the community’s support, as well as an opportunity to learn more about the great things that have been happening.

The Tucson Symphony Orchestra is well aware of the magic within a live spectacle, which is why they have decided to take one of cinema’s greatest musical accomplishments and perform it live at the Tucson Music Hall. As part of its “Superpops!” series, the orchestra will be performing Disney’s iconic “Fantasia” live in concert over the holiday weekend.
Saguaro National Park’s Tucson Mountain District (west) will offer a three-day Wilderness Camp for young people 10 to 14 years old. The dates for the camp are Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Dec. 27-29.

The herbicide glyphosate and the “inert ingredient” POEA, used in Roundup, are reported in Scientific American to kill human cells. Roundup is linked to birth defects, Parkinson’s Disease, infertility and cancer. Despite the growing evidence about the herbicide’s dangers, Saguaro National Park sprayed 3,550 gallons of the poison on 375 park acres with helicopters Aug. 19-24 in its efforts to fight buffelgrass.
When an injury in December 2012 forced Robert Acosta to put his soccer dreams on hold, he returned from New York to his hometown of Tucson with five outfits, a couple training jerseys, and $18 to his name.
Pima County Sheriff’s deputies take Manuel Miranda, 17, into custody after the Nov. 25 incident where he and his 15-year-old brother Jacob Miranda robbed a man of his vehicle at gunpoint in Northwest Tucson.
On November 25, Pima County Sheriff’s Department deputies received a call around 1:40 p.m. in reference to an armed robbery that took place in the 6400 block of North Oracle Road (near the intersection of North Oracle Road and West Orange Grove Road).

Oro Valley, Arizona (November 19, 2014)-On November 14, 2014, Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) patrol officers responded to an Oro Valley home in reference to a burglary. The victim reported over $20,000 worth of items stolen. OVPD patrol conducted a canvass of the area and were able to identify two suspicious vehicles in the area at the time of the burglary.
A large number of local northwest area athletes will continue their athletic careers at the college level. In total 21 area high school athletes signed National Letters of Intent to accept athletic scholarships, with at least five more signing this week.
