The $5 million construction project to reconfigure the intersection at Oracle and Ina roads and alter left turns has been postponed from this summer, as originally planned, until next year.
Daily traffic counts at the intersection of Ina and Oracle roads are expected to increase from 96,000 to 126,000 cars in the next 20 to 30 years. To address the issues, the county will begin a $5 million project in January to redesign the intersection that will alter left turns on Ina Road. Known as a “Michigan left,” it is expected to increase safety and speed up how quickly cars move through.

Every day, 96,000 vehicles move through Ina and Oracle, the Northwest's busiest intersection.
Dave Pittman, director of the Arizona Builders Alliance in Tucson, says it's not a matter of if there'll be good economic news for Northwest Tucson.
The junction of Oracle and Ina Roads, one of Tucson's busiest intersections, is being studied for reconstruction, with an indirect "Michigan left" turn proposed for east and westbound traffic, and ramped right-turn lanes to move vehicles onto Oracle without delay.
