When asked how I came to open a math-only learning center, my first response is simply that there are quite a number of reasons, not the least of which is that I just happen to enjoy both math and kids. But that’s just the simple, conversational answer. The deeper issue for me is the child’s self-esteem, and I wanted to be able to positively affect that. So for me, math is just the vehicle.
Do you believe you're not good at math? Various studies suggest that with motivation and good teaching strategies, anyone can succeed in math. In fact, studies have shown that students who are motivated to do well actually learn faster than students with higher IQs who are less motivated. It doesn't matter if you are at grade level, ahead, or a grade level behind. The right motivation and tools will help you succeed. Just accept your starting point and move forward with the right attitude.
Math Tip: Why do parents read to their children, but not do "math" with their children? Many parents feel uncomfortable with speaking "math" and lack confidence in their own math aptitude. Simple number counting goes a long way, especially at a very impressionable young age. You can start at any age, even as early as one year old. Count from 1 to 10 by ones and twos. Also, count up to 20, 30, etc. and count by threes, fours, etc.

The math standards are changing! Is your child ready? The Common Core Standards are a way to prepare all the students in America for life. Arizona has been way behind the rest of the U.S. when it comes to math and now we are pushing to catch up.
Mathnasium is a Math learning center. We work with students at all levels of Math. Yes, we work with students who struggle, but we are also here for those who wish to get ahead with an eye toward getting into the best colleges. We can assist your child by taking them where they currently are mathematically and moving them ahead in understanding and mathematical ability.
