It’s the time of year when we all feel more thankful for everything we have. We count our blessings a little more and appreciate the people and organizations that make our lives complete.
It was a busier than normal night at the Marana Town Council last Wednesday, and it could have been an even busier session had a council action agenda item not been taken off the board. As it was, the council held the first of two public hearings over the possibility of building a new police station.

Chances are if you have been to an event in Marana that requires a host or emcee, then you have seen KOLD news anchor Dan Marries. Since he first moved here in 1999, Marries has tried to be involved in a wide variety of functions.

Casas Adobes Rotary Club presented $28,500 in scholarships to 10 high school seniors at its 24th annual Eighth Grade Honors program. The seniors had been honored when they were eighth-graders. Scholarship winners were chosen based on leadership, community involvement and character as well as scholastics. Rotary is all about leadership.

Mountain View High School Senior Alyssa Kayfes was recently selected as a National Merit Scholar semifinalist.
The Marana Rotary Club will host its 2nd Annual Heritage Awards dinner and fundraiser on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 6:00 PM. The event will take place at The Highlands of Dove Mountain (formerly known as Heritage Highlands).
Join the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona’s “Hunger Walk” 2012 presented by Casino Del Sol Resort on Saturday, Sept. 29, to help make a difference in the fight against hunger in Southern Arizona. Registration is at 8:00 AM and the walk begins at 9:00 AM. The event will start and finish in Sam Lena Park at the Mulcahy YMCA at Kino Community Center, 2805 E. Ajo Way (near Ajo and Country Club). Community Food Bank CEO, Bill Carnegie will be joined by Allison Alexander, Anchor, News 4 Tucson to host the proceedings.
