I’m a registered Democrat, but if I was non-partisan, Republican or Independent, allowing me to vote in the Republican primary election, I would vote for Scott Bartle. Let me state why.
Her desire for the positive future for Arizona a driving force, Governor Brewer announced the endorsement of Jo Grant in the House of Representatives race for District 11.
After serving for 26 years in the Air Force, SaddleBrooke resident Holly Lyon is looking to run for another elected office. Her other elected position was for a precinct committee. Lyon is running because she “wants to start working with everybody” in helping build the economy. Lyon’s top three priorities are infrastructure/public education, restoring pride to Arizona through improving the economy and sustainability by way of state utilities.
The June 26th issue of the Explorer included a Thelma Grimes editorial that was both factually inaccurate and rhetorically overheated. It took to task 35 State Senators and Representatives (all Republican) while singling out by name two of the three who represent LD11 (Rep Kwasman and me). Our crime was to oppose the implementation of ObamaCare via an expansion of Medicaid and to protest the manner in which it was done.
In the race for Legislative District 11 State Representative, Republicans Adam Kwasman and Steve Smith have claimed the two available House seats, defeating Democrat Dave Joseph.
Sen. Al Melvin was elected to a third term in the Arizona Senate Tuesday night, defeating Democrat Jo Holt for a seat in Legislative District 11, which was formerly District 26.
Candidates for District 11’s Arizona House of Representatives and Senate gathered last night at Pima Community College’s Northwest Campus for a question and answer session, sponsored by the Arizona Clean Elections Commission.
While a lot of attention is being paid to the District 8 Congressional race, there is still planning taking place at the state level, especially in District 11.

Last week, Gov. Jan Brewer called a special session of the legislature to pass a bill that would extend unemployment insurance from 79 to 99 weeks. The call was for the Feds to pick up the tab on the additional $65 million in insurance cost to Arizona.
District 26 lawmakers Sen. Al Melvin and Rep. Vic Williams support the Arizona Legislature’s non-vote that ended unemployment benefits for more than 15,000 people last week.
