Part of Arizona Game & Fish Department Game Management Unit 37A will be closed to javelina hunting from Feb. 18-27 as a safety precaution during the World Golf Championship — Accenture Match Play at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain.
For safety reasons, the Arizona Game & Fish Department has put a halt on javelina hunting near the tournament play area Friday through Feb. 27, when the Accenture Match Play Championship ends.
On November 18, 1988, Congress created the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area. Stretching nearly 40 miles from the Mexican border to St. David, Ariz., this region, controlled by the BLM, covers close to 58,000 acres. Located along north flowing San Pedro River, banks are dominated by massive Fremont cottonwood trees. Human occupation of the area dates to 13,000 years ago.
