A split Oro Valley Town Council voted to move ahead with negotiations to purchase the El Conquistador country club and golf courses for a municipal community center Wednesday.

Burt Reynolds, the man with the famous mustache, is selling hundreds of personal items from his illustrious Hollywood career to try and save himself from overwhelming financial ruin. The man made famous by countless movies like “Deliverence”, the “Longest Yard”, and “Smokey and the Bandit” will be auctioning everything from his Golden Globe award from “Boogie Nights” to the red jacket from “Smokey and the Bandit”. The auction will be held Dec. 11 and 12 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas and is organized by Julien’s Auctions.
Non-profit Veterans 360 Inc. is hosting a fundraiser on Dec. 10 to help rehabilitate young combat veterans and reintroduce them to civilian life. The event takes place at Cushing Street Bar & Restaurant from 4:30 – 9 p.m. and will feature guest speaker Jim Symonds, a former skipper on the USS Ronald Reagan. Tickets cost $20 if paid in advance, and dinner and live entertainment are included in the cost. Drinks and dessert are separate.
A Credit For Caring donation to one or more of our local schools can reduce your state tax bill dollar for dollar. School donations must be made before Dec. 31 and the Credit for Caring tax form 322 filled out when you do your Arizona income taxes. The schools will provide the appropriate receipt to file with your taxes.
