Call it luck, call it fate, call it whatever you want, but when Coyote Trail educator Sue Richey was honored for 40-years of service in the Marana Unified School District last week and number of different things had to happen to get her to that point.
The Marana Unified School District senior leadership and Marana Schools’ 2340 Foundation recognized Sue Richey for her 40 years of teaching during a surprise celebration on Sept. 30 at Coyote Trail Elementary School.
On August 4, 2014 the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) publicly released 2014 AIMS results and the A-F school letter grades for schools throughout the state. The Marana Unified School District earned a high profile of B. One elementary school earned the ADE’s highest Achievement Profile of an A and fifteen Marana schools earned the Achievement Profile of a B.
Marana Unified School District students will begin the school year
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona recently awarded two Marana teachers a $5,000 grant for each of their schools to fund health-related programs in Arizona. The grants were awarded based on the winners’ exceptional execution of the 2014 Walk On! Challenge.

Estes Elementary School, in the Marana Unified School District, has earned the 2014 A+ School of Excellence award presented by the Arizona Educational Foundation.
During the bright summer months, the Marana Unified School District has been installing solar panels and structures at eight schools, all at no cost to the district.
Delta Kappa Gamma is an international organization of women educators whose purpose is to promote the professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Aligned with that purpose, Delta Kappa Gamma/Alpha Chapter will host their first annual “Early Career Educator” appreciation and recognition brunch recognizing 16 outstanding early career educators from the Marana Unified School District. The brunch will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
Beginning in the 2013-2014 school year, teachers across Arizona will begin adhering to the Arizona Common Core Standards (ACCS), a new set of mandated academic standards in English language arts and mathematics.
Earlier this month, two schools within the Marana Unified School District and one within the Amphitheater School District were recognized by the National Center for Educational Achievement (NCEA) as 2012 NCEA Arizona higher Performing Schools.
