(BPT) - For many homeowners the biggest utility bill is electricity. Heating and cooling the home makes up nearly half of electricity costs, but the next biggest source is the water heater. Ask any music connoisseur and they will tell you, compositions are meant to be experienced in the flesh. The modern advancements of iPods, try as they might, simply cannot do justice to the enchantment of a live performance – the way a photograph is not telling of the expansive beauty within a Tucson sunset. As part of its “Superpops!” series, the orchestra will be performing Disney’s iconic “Fantasia” live in concert over the holiday weekend.
In November, Picture Rocks Hiking Club explorers visited Box Canyon, following a wash from Picture Rocks Road at the bottom of Contzen Pass through the Tucson Mountains to the Redemptorist Renewal Center.
Sue Steadman’s 90th birthday was celebrated at the Nov. 13 at the Picture Rocks Community Center with dozens of voices singing out their celebration of a life well lived.
The herbicide glyphosate and the “inert ingredient” POEA, used in Roundup, are reported in Scientific American to kill human cells. Roundup is linked to birth defects, Parkinson’s Disease, infertility and cancer. Despite the growing evidence about the herbicide’s dangers, Saguaro National Park sprayed 3,550 gallons of the poison on 375 park acres with helicopters Aug. 19-24 in its efforts to fight buffelgrass.
