Open House: Sunday, May 6, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Informational opportunity to tour the studios, meet the teaching artists, register for classes, apply for scholarships, ask questions, see slide shows of artwork and artists from previous summers.
Internships: June 1 – July 30. For advanced, returning students, college freshmen or sophomores. Must work independently on individual projects, assist teaching artists, and be available week of July 23 to install student exhibition. Tuition: $350.
Youth Program: ages 9 – 12 years
Junior Immersion: Monday – Friday, June 11 – 29. Section A: 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.; or Section B: 1 p.m. – 4:30 pm. A three-week immersion into the visual arts, in a variety of media, from drawing to painting, and printmaking. Tuition: $240 for either A or B.
Junior Blitz: Monday – Friday, Section A: July 9 - 13 or Section B: July 16 – 20; 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Students explore 2 and 3-dimensional formats of drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture in each blitz. Tuition: $95 for either A or B.
Teen Program: ages 12 – 18 except where noted
Teen Blitz: Monday, June 4 – Wednesday, June 13, 9 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Ages 13 – 18. An eight-day condensed fundamentals immersion in drawing and painting, that prepares students for elective intensives available in July. Tuition: $250.
Teen Immersion: Monday - Friday, June 15 – Friday, July 13. No class July 4. First day is Friday, June 15 9 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The signature program of the Art of Summer. Students receive more than 100 hours of visual arts training, nurturing the skills of observation by cultivating the ability to pay attention. Extended studio lessons in Drawing Fundamentals, Traditional and Mixed Media Painting, Figurative Clay Modeling; Printmaking; Portraiture and more. Tuition: $490.
Weekly Intensives: Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Ages 13 – 18. Students must have completed a Blitz or Immersion program to enroll.
Painting in Oil and Acrylic: July 9 – 13. Traditional and expressive training in both media, on canvas and paper, in extended sessions.
Figure and Portrait of Humans and Other Living Creatures. Clay modeling and drawing instruction from costumed models, and animals. Field trip to the Zoo.
Tuition: $180 for one, $320 for both Intensives.
