Mountain View senior running back Myles Williams is a workhorse, and he doesn't mind.

"As long as I'm with my teammates, it's all good," said Williams, whose hard-running performance Monday propelled the Mountain Lions (2-5) to a 20-7 victory over Marana (3-3). It was their second victory in three days.

Williams carried 17 times for 138 yards and a touchdown during the 2-1/2 quarters played on Monday, and was the focal point of much of the Mountain Lion offense. The game resumed at the exact point of its cancellation on Sept. 4 due to weather conditions.

"He's a good role model, he works hard and he encourages everybody out there," said Mountain View head coach Paul Schmidt. "He's good for us to have around."

For Williams, the fact that the Mountain Lions — after waiting more than a month for their first victory – have notched two wins in three days has little to do with him, and everything to do with the team.

"It's never about me, it's always about these guys," said Williams, waving toward his teammates. "When I can see it in their eyes, how much they want it, it makes me try that much harder."

Williams and the Mountain Lions have a bye week before taking on Salpointe Catholic (5-1)  on Oct. 23, but the senior is confident that when the team is focused, it is a force to be reckoned with.

"I'm proud of the guys, we didn't have a lot of time to prepare (for Marana), but it's the way we focused in film study, we took it seriously – it's a big win for us," said Williams.

Regardless of what happens over the rest of the season, Williams said he would continue to push himself to help his teammates succeed.

"I feel like a big brother to most of these guys," said Williams. "I'd do anything for them."
