The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (8-7) closed out the Bruce Fleck Classic on Wednesday with a dominating win over Western Texas College at the West Campus. The Aztecs finished 2-1 in the Bruce Fleck Classic.
Jayla Brown (Desert Vista HS) had her shot working for her as she helped the Aztecs in their 73-49 win. Brown was a perfect 6 for 6 from the field which included five 3-pointers as she finished with 17 points off the bench.
With the game tied at 20-20, Brown hit two of her 3-pointers to put the Aztecs up 26-20. They went on an 11-0 run during that stretch to take a 31-20 advantage. Western Texas would cut it to a single digit lead only once after that. Pima led 40-24 at halftime.
Brown banked in her two 3-pointers in the second half and hit a jumper to cap off her perfect night.
Alicia Jones (Palo Verde HS) finished the game with 15 points and eight rebounds while Raja Moreno-Ross (Tucson Magnet HS) contributed with 10 points and eight rebounds. Felicia Foster (Peoria HS) had 10 points and five assists.
The Aztecs are off until Saturday, Jan. 4 when they get back to ACCAC conference play against Tohono O’Odham Community College at the West Campus. The game will be at 2 p.m.
