SV Buena 15, Mountain View 10

The Mountain Lions (3-6, 2-3) desperately needed a win on homecoming night against Sierra Vista Buena, but bowed.

"We didn't play well offensively," said coach Justin Argraves. "We couldn't get anything going."

In its season finale this Friday, Mountain View goes to Ironwood Ridge.

The Mountain Lion defense held Buena to 200 yards of offense, and the locals led 10-8 with less than seven minutes left. A 20-yard touchdown run with less than four minutes left gave Buena its winning margin.

Too many penalties and mistakes hurt the team, Argraves said. A turning point was likely a Buena field goal attempt on which the snap went awry, but the holder picked up the ball and threw a seven-yard touchdown pass.

"We had a lot of penalties," Argraves said. "We're a pretty young team."

Dillon Davidson gained 57 yards rushing on eight carries, while Weston Kimmel was nine for 46 yards.

Sahuaro 42, Marana 20

The Tigers (1-8, 0-3) lost on the road, and conclude their season Friday when they host Nogales.

Tanner Morse rushed 11 times for 111 yards. Among those runs was a 62-yard scamper that set up Louis Payne's 1-yard touchdown run.

Kord Catt caught six passes for 55 yards, including a 34-yard touchdown catch. Robert Contreras had three catches for 47 yards.

Pusch Ridge

The Lions' regular season ended with a forfeit win over Ray. They finished the regular season 8-1, winning their final eight games, and going unbeaten in region for the third straight year.

Seeded #4 in 2A play, the Lions host their first playoff game Friday night against #13 Camp Verde.

Thus far, quarterback Tyler Goodwillie has thrown nine touchdown passes, and leads the team with 464 yards rushing, 5.5 yards per carry and six touchdowns.

Tyler Vance has gained 357 yards rushing and scored four times. Vance led the team with 15 catches for 239 yards and four touchdowns. Daniel McLeod caught 11 for 221 yards and four touchdowns.

Canyon del Oro

The Dorados (9-0, 3-0) had a bye last week. They remain Southern Arizona's only unbeaten team among all 4A and 5A schools.

The Dorados travel to Sabino Friday to take on the Sabercats (8-1, 2-1). This will be a rematch of last year's state title game, won by the Dorados, 40-0.

Ka'Deem Carey leads the Dorados with 977 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in six games played. Carey's averaging 9.9 yards per carry.

Quarterback Jason McBrayer has 748 yards rushing with 13 touchdowns. McBrayer has also thrown 12 touchdown passes with no interceptions.

Blake Martinez leads team with 16 receptions, 346 yards, and five touchdown catches. Martinez also leads the defense with five quarterback sacks.

Ironwood Ridge

The Nighthawks (6-3, 4-1) had a bye last week. If they win at home Friday against Mountain View, Ironwood Ridge likely hosts a first-round playoff game next week.

Tyler D'Amore leads all Southern Arizona passers with 24 touchdowns and 1,948 yards. He's completed 70 percent of his passes.

Trevor Wesley has 52 catches for 785 yards and 11 touchdowns. Mitch Fischer leads the ground game with 982 yards, 10.1 per carry, and has 12 rushing touchdowns.
