The Ironwood Ridge High School wrestling team, the reigning Division II Arizona State Champions, have been invited to participate in Clash X on Dec. 30-31 in Rochester, Minn.
The Clash is considered to be the premier dual-format wrestling tournament in the country. The event is an invitation-only tournament that invites the top 32 wrestling teams from across the country, according to an announcement released by Nighthawks wrestling coach Tim Berrier.
The Nighthawks earned the Arizona State championship after finishing second the previous two years. During that time they have crowned nine individual state champions and had three high school All Americans. Six of their wrestlers have earned college scholarships, with one of those individuals wrestling for the Military Academy at West Point.
Nighthawks will start the season at an away tournament at Cienega High School on Nov. 23. They will host the first home duel against Flowing Wells on Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.
