PCC Football Coach Pat Nugent Resigns

Posted

Pima Community College football coach Pat Nugent has turned in his resignation after leading the Aztecs for five seasons.

The football team finished the 2013 season with a 5-5 record; its best finish since Nugent took over as head coach. Previous to this season, Nugent’s best finish for a season was 4-7 in 2011. He had an overall record of 13-40.

“The time and commitment needed to run a junior college football program is tremendous and at this time in mine and my family life, I will not be able to provide the guidance that is needed for the student-athletes,” Nugent said in a letter. “I appreciate the opportunity that I have been given at Pima Community College and the continued support and guidance that I have received from the administration.

“I have worked extremely hard to build the football program to a respectable level and feel that at this time it will be a very attractive job for the future football coach.”

Pima will search for its fifth football head coach.

Pima football finishes under Coach Nugent:

2013 – 5-5

2012 – 1-10

2011 – 4-7

2010 – 3-8

2009 – 0-10
