The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (8-7, 4-3 in conference) earned its sixth win in a row after taking control early to defeat Scottsdale Community College 80-56 on Wednesday at the West Campus’ Aztec Gym.
The Aztecs took a 20-point lead in the first half and its lead never dropped below 14 in the second half. The Aztecs had an 8-0 run in the first half and a 9-0 run in the second to help pull away.
Alyssa Roche (Cienega HS) had the hot hand for Pima, scoring a game-high 16 points. She went 4 for 7 from three-point range. Ashlei Scott (Chandler HS) finished with 13 points while Raja Moreno (Tucson HS) and A’jha Edwards (Tombstone HS) each contributed with 12. Moreno also grabbed eight rebounds. The Aztecs out-rebounded Scottsdale 48-36 for the game.
“We shot the ball well and took care of the boards.We had a very balanced attack,” Pima coach Todd Holthaus said.
The Aztecs will be home at the West Campus on Friday against South Plains College (Texas) at 3 p.m.
