Police, fire, military and other law enforcement personnel will compete this weekend, April 27-30, in the 32nd Annual Arizona Police and Fire Games at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel, 1900 E. Speedway Blvd. Most events are open for public viewing.
Events include basketball, bass fishing, boxing, cycling (road, time trial and off-road), darts, flag football, golf, horseshoes, shooting (PPC pistol, combat pistol, sniper rifle, high-power rifle and small-bore rifle), power lifting, poker, softball, soccer and triathlon.
Competitions will take place in the Greater Tucson area and will include more than 1,200 participants from across the state and country.
Donations are requested. Proceeds will go to the Tucson Police Athletic/Activity League, which serves at-risk youth in the Tucson area, and The Burn Foundation, whose mission is to assist burn victims and their families, educate the public on fire prevention and to advocate on behalf of others.
Law enforcement personnel and first responders can still register for any of the individual events. New team registrations are now closed.
Individual competitors can register online at www.azpolicegames.com or in person at the game site. A late fee will be assessed for walk-up registrations.
The Arizona Police and Fire Games is hosted by the Arizona Police Athletic Federation, a nonprofit, non-political sports association. The Federation represents all members of the public safety community and strives to serve its members by offering quality athletic competitions while raising funds for the communities they serve.
