Thanks to a strong front four, the Catalina Foothills Boys golf team beat Rincon 146-158 on Tuesday. Santa Rita shot a team combined 164.
Ironwood Ridge made a serious claim to being Tucson’s best team after beating Mountain View 42-7 on Friday night. The win is the Nighthawks’ seventh in a row and puts Ironwood Ridge in the driver’s seat for the sectional championship and an automatic berth in the Division II state playoffs.
The CDO girls golf team earned a win over a shorthanded Sunnyside squad on Monday. The Dorado girls shot a 184 overall and had the four lowest scores on the day.
Despite having the top golfer of the day, Ironwood Ridge fell to Sahuaro 161-663 on Monday. The sixth proved to be the key hole. The Nighthawks led by two strokes after five, but the Cougar golfers combined to shoot -1 on the hole, while Ironwood Ridge posted a combined +4.
