One of the rites of spring in Marana is our State of the Town luncheon. It’s an event I look forward to each year because it gives me an opportunity to share a positive message with the community about where our Town is headed.

Marana’s future has never looked brighter. With the recent citizen votes reauthorizing our right to be in the wastewater business, the possibilities for quality economic development in Marana are practically limitless. The system we will soon own serves more than 2,100 customers in north Marana, which is a high-growth area.

People are steadily moving to our town as we continue recovering from a tough national recession. We have more than 37,000 people living here and our community is growing by the day. Home construction has been steady the past few years and new businesses are sure to follow. Now that we have better control of our water resources, we are able to serve as a one-stop shop for development.

During the State of the town, we plan to show a video that highlights some of the many characteristics that make Marana such an inviting community. The production will center around the Town’s Strategic Plan, which is due for an update later this year. We owe thanks to our community partner, Comcast, for covering production costs. The town can always count on Comcast to lend its support when we need assistance.

The town and Marana Chamber of Commerce also appreciate the support provided for the event by CalPortland and the Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain. The sponsorships these and other groups provide help defray costs for the luncheon and provide needed revenue for the Chamber.

Marana’s Town Council and employees look forward to seeing you at our State of the Town. We have many exciting things to share and we enjoy talking with the business leaders and residents who make this such a great community.

Marana’s State of the town luncheon, hosted by the Marana Chamber of Commerce, is April 26 at the Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain. For more information, please visit www.maranachamber.com.
