Are you looking for great community events and entertainment? There are so many exciting events happening in Oro Valley over the next few months, it is difficult to keep track! The Town hasn’t always been this busy with large-scale events, which begs the question: What has changed?

A focus in Town Council’s Strategic Plan on developing and attracting events has come to fruition.

These festivals and sporting events are drawing visitors and athletes from across the nation. Guests will stay in our hotels, shop in our stores and dine in our restaurants, strengthening the Town’s economy and showcasing our beautiful community. Best of all, our robust event calendar provides Oro Valley residents with diverse entertainment opportunities.

So what do we have to look forward to in the coming months?

We’re proud to announce the first-ever Off the Vine Wine Festival at Steam Pump Ranch. This festival, which will be held February 22, 2014, features 15 Arizona wineries and is hosted by Arizona Winegrowers, the Town of Oro Valley and the Greater Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce. The timing of this event was meant to capture some of the audience from Accenture Match Play Championship golf tournament.

March 1 brings us the annual Move Across 2 Ranges hiking challenge, held in partnership with the Town of Marana. The following week, March 6 – 9, the Oro Valley Aquatic Center will host the Arizona Swimming 2014 Short Course Age Group State Championship, with more than 700 athletes competing. Rounding out the month is the 10th Annual Arizona Distance Classic, benefitting the Leukemia and Lymphoma society, held on March 23.

April is a very busy month for us! The first-ever Oro Valley Sprint Triathlon will be held April 5, followed by Team USA’s 2014 National Synchronized Swimming Championships April 8 – 12 at the Oro Valley Aquatic Center. On the 19th, archers of all ages are welcome to Archery Demo Day at Naranja Park, and the State Synchronized Swimming Championships will be held April 25 through April 27 at the Oro Valley Aquatic Center. April also marks the Town’s 40th Anniversary, which includes a ticketed dinner event on April 18 at the Oro Valley Country Club, followed by the free 40th Anniversary Celebration at Steam Pump Ranch on April 26, and Family Day at Catalina State Park on April 27.

In addition to these major events, the Town has increased its offerings of regularly-occurring events such as the ever-expanding Oro Valley Farmer’s Market at Steam Pump Ranch every Saturday, and Second Saturdays at Steam Pump Ranch, which includes live music, educational programming and public art tours. The Oro Valley Concert Series continues to please audiences with live music at the Oro Valley Marketplace on the first Thursday of every month, and crowds are larger than ever at the Musical Magic for Kids series, held the first Saturday of the month at Town Hall. Both are held in partnership with the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance.

A quick glance at the Town’s online event calendar (www.orovalleyaz.gov) shows that there are even more events happening in the coming months! Stay up-to-date by visiting our website or liking us on Facebook. You won’t want to miss a minute of the fun.
