Of course they want a shield law to protect their sympathetic, liberal and Democrat leaning press, because the Democrats want to control the narrative, and how they despise conservative media, blogs, and independent pundits. This is the nature of the Democratic Party, and controlling the media is essential to their power, after all, it works in Chicago, San Francisco, Detroit, and other places. It helps to have friends in the media, pseudo journalists willing to spin the truth, attack the opposition, carry the water for the team. If most of the country's media were conservative, Schumer would be fighting on the other side of the issue, ensuring that sympathetic Democrat leaning bloggers are protected.
