Amphi hires 2 middle school principals

The Amphitheater School District has hired two middle school principals for the 2009-2010 school year.

Christine Sullivan will become the next principal at La Cima Middle School, and Kevin Corner will head Cross Middle School.

Sullivan, who currently serves as an assistant principal at Coronado K-8 School, has worked in the district since 1998.

She has spent several years promoting positive student behavior through mentoring, counseling and disciplining K-12 students throughout the school district, a release said.

When serving as a career ladder coach, Sullivan mentored new teachers in the district.

She got her undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona and her master’s degree from Northern Arizona University.

Before becoming the assistant principal at Cross Middle School, Corner was an advanced placement teacher at Mountain View High School and a youth corrections counselor for the Cache Valley Attention/Detention Center.

He has also participated in the district’s 21st Century and Adolescent Literacy committees and many other projects.

Corner got his undergraduate degree from Utah State University, a master’s degree from Northern Arizona University.

He currently is working on his doctoral degree in educational leadership at the University of Arizona.
