Marana police are investigating the Wednesday death of an 18-month-old child.

At about 5 p.m. Sept. 1, an SUV struck 18-month old Victor Arias in the driveway of the child's home on the 12500 block of West Swanson Road, in the Honea Heights neighborhood of Marana.

The driver of the 2001 Chevy Tahoe was at the house to pick up his children, who were playing there.

The boy's parents drove Victor to the Marana Health Center, where he was treated. The child was soon transported by Medi-vac helicopter to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead just after 6 p.m.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
