Marana

• About 11:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, the school resource officer at Marana High School, 12000 W. Emigh Road, arrested a student on three drug charges after school officials found the boy impaired allegedly after snorting half of a crushed Percocet tablet. In a police report, the officer noted that the boy “was slurring his words and almost ran into the wall on a few occasions.” The student admitted to using a straw to snort the prescription pain pill, according to police. The boy was arrested for possession of a narcotic, possession of a narcotic in a drug-free school zone and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Shortly before 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, the school resource officer at Marana High School, 12000 W. Emigh Road, arrested a student on a charge of marijuana possession. An associate principal at the school caught several students, one of them with a rolled Marijuana cigarette, at the school’s C Building “in an area that is not easily seen by other people.”  Police also charged the boy with possession of marijuana in a drug-free school zone and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• About 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, police responded to a report of vandalism in progress at an unnamed business on the 6800 block of Camino Martin. A security guard saw several male juveniles vandalizing a wall at the business and was able to detain one of them until police arrived. Police arrested one adult male on charges of third-degree burglary and felony criminal damage. The damage to the business was estimated at more than $2,000, according to police. Other businesses in the area, including Arizona Restaurant Supply, and retaining walls, such as the one off Thornydale Road, and the bridges at the Camino de Oeste Wash also have been vandalized recently, according to police. The department’s officers continue investigating the graffiti in the area. Anyone with information should call 88-CRIME or the Marana Police Department at 382-2000.

• About 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, the school resource officer at Marana High School, 12000 W. Emigh Road, arrested a female student for possession of prescription medication after she was found carrying an Altoids mint tin containing five Adderall pills. The pills typically are prescribed for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. The girl’s mother, who was summoned to campus, said the pills likely belonged to her brother, who had a prescription for Adderall. The girl was arrested on charges of possession of a prescription medication, possession of a prescription medication in a drug-free school zone and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Oro Valley

• About 4:20 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, police responded to a report of a burglary at a home on the 100 block of East Mountain Vista Drive. The resident had come home to find his front door open, his house ransacked and the sliding-glass back door shattered and off its hinges. Items taken from the home included several sets of rare coins valued at $42,000 and several weapons and ammunition worth more than $2,000. The weapons taken included four pistols and 10 magazines, two 8mm Mauser rifles, 2 SKS assault rifles (one mounted with a grenade launcher), an AK-47 assault rifle, a pair of 303 Enfield rifles, and a 12-gauge shotgun. Police believe the suspects jumped a gate and entered the home through the back door, stole the firearms from a hall closet and stole the coins from the master bedroom. The suspects most likely left through the front door, according to police. No arrests were made.
