Town leaders last week revealed changes to land use proposals for the planned annexation of Arroyo Grande, a 14-square-mile area north of town.

In addition to including open space to allow for a wildlife corridor to run through the area, the new map changed the estimated population figures for when the area reaches build out. The updated plan estimates the entire area would have 15,923 homes and up to 38,215 residents.

The original plan estimated 15,964 homes and 38,313 residents.

Town and Arizona State Land Department officials have not yet completed a pre-annexation agreement. When the parties finish the agreement, the town council would vote to approve the annexation.
