An informational meeting for the Marana campus of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Arizona is set for 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, in the clubhouse at Heritage Highlands.

The session, for both returning and prospective members, is a chance to learn about study groups planned for the spring 2010 semester. Study group leaders plan to give brief overviews. Registration is open to anyone interested.

OLLI-Marana study groups get under way Feb. 1 and run through March 26. All study groups meet at the Heritage Highlands Clubhouse.

OLLI is a nationwide, university-affiliated, educational network of adults 50 years of age and older who embody their love of learning through study groups focusing on a wide variety of subjects. Study groups are organized and led by OLLI members, many of whom are retired university professors, teachers, semi-retired working professionals, and "knowledgeable and experienced hobbyists," a release said.

OLLI/UA/Marana study groups for the spring 2010 semester include: Ansel Adams: A Legacy; Understanding Economics and Money; Desert Gardening; Cognitive Aging and Its Implications; Chinese Art Exhibit at the Tucson Museum of Art; Current Health Issues Series; Film Musicals of the 21st Century; Andy Warhol: Life and Legends; Four Steps to an Exceptional Retirement; History of Arizona: Part II; If Mozart Was a Techie;  Southwest Art: Pottery; Early Manned Space Flight; Media Law and Ethics; The Roswell Incident; and Adventures in the Alaska Arctic.

Membership fees for Marana OLLI are $50 per semester and entitle participants to free enrollment in all classes offered in Marana, as well as one study group at either the Tucson or Green Valley campuses.
