Candidates for Marana Town Council will take part in four public forums in January and February to introduce themselves to town residents.
The forums, put together by the Marana Chamber of Commerce, will allow candidates to communicate their priorities and answer residents’ questions in preparation for the March 10 primary election.
Four incumbents and three challengers will run for four seats in that election.
Any candidate who gets more than 50 percent of the vote will be automatically elected.
Some others will move on to the general election, May 19.
Challengers for the seats are Larry Steckler, Kelle Maslyn and Bret Summers.
Steckler is chairman of the Marana Parks and Recreation board and works as a Realtor with Long Realty Company.
Maslyn served as executive director of the Marana Chamber of Commerce and works as the corporate affairs manager for Comcast Cable.
Summers is a spokesman for the Hartman Vista Home Owners Association and a retired Tucson Police Department traffic officer.
The four candidates running for re-election are Carol McGorray, Herb Kai, Patti Comerford and Jon Post.
Voter registration closes on Feb. 9 for the primary election and April 20 for the general election.
