On Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 12 p.m., Oro Valley police responded to the area near the bridge over the Cañada del Oro Wash at Pusch View Lane where a town employee reported seeing graffiti. Once there, the officer noted numerous spray painted words, including profanities, on areas under the bridge. The officer took evidence photos of the graffiti. The town employee estimated the cost to remove the graffiti at $1,500 to $2,000. No arrests were made.

On Monday, Sept. 13, at 11 p.m., Oro Valley police responded to the area of Red Creek Drive near Red Creek Place following a call about possible gunshots. An officer responding to the call found the remains of a plastic bottle and aluminum foil lying in the street. The officer noted in a report that the items appeared to be the remnants of a homemade explosive. While inspecting the items, the officer heard the squeal of vehicle tires and saw a small car approach the area rapidly. The officer stopped the car and spoke with two juvenile boys inside. The officer asked the youths if they knew anything about the exploded items. They confirmed to the officer that they had blown up the bottle. Both boys were placed under arrest for misconduct involving a simulated explosive device and taken to Pima County Juvenile Detention Center.
