A public meeting on potential roadway improvements to Oracle Road — State Route 77 — between Tangerine Road and the Pinal County line is being held Tuesday, Jan. 27, at a Northwest school.

The Arizona Department of Transportation hosts the session from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. that Tuesday in the multipurpose room at Coronado K-8 School, 3401 E. Wilds Road.

A study is identifying alternatives in which Oracle Road “could be improved in order to accommodate regional and local traffic flow,” a release said. Alternatives will be evaluated for potential environmental, social and economic issues.

The Jan. 27 meeting is the first since a public meeting on the project held in summer 2006. It is intended “to share the progress of the study and get feedback on the alternatives that have been developed to date,” the release said.

Comments “will be used to help identify critical issues to be addressed for the development and evaluation of a final recommended alternative,” it continued.

The session begins with an open house, giving citizens the chance to view maps and graphics, and to speak with study team members. A 15-minute presentation begins at 6 p.m.

A graphic of the project area and additional information can be found on the project Web site at www.oracleroad.info.
