Hundreds of runners, and 15 wheelchair athletes, filled the streets of northern Oro Valley on Sunday for the annual Arizona Distance Classic, benefiting the leukemia and lymphoma society.
Ian Johnson of Tucson captured the half-marathon, finishing the course in 1:09.54.
Troy Jacobson of Oro Valley placed sixth, Steven Beeler of Oro Valley 15th and Ken Cottrell of Oro Valley 16th among 934 runners who came from Southern Arizona, New Mexico, greater Phoenix, Kentucky, Washington, Ohio, Indiana, Massachusetts and more.

In the wheelchair division, Jordan Bird of Tucson led a field of 13 athletes with a time of 48:32.
Oro Valley runners led the way in the overall 5-kilometer results. Zeke Zankich was first in 19:23, Jessica Satiroff second in 20:11. There were 288 contestants.
