A dust storm caused a 10-vehicle crash north of Tucson Thursday night, where an infant was pronounced dead on the scene.
Patrick Calhoun, spokesman for the Avra Valley Fire District, said they were dispatched to westbound Interstate 10 at milepost 225 at 6:01 p.m.
Upon arrival, fire crews found one vehicle fully engulfed, with the infant inside.
The infant was pronounced dead at the scene, and two critical patients were flown to University Medical Center by helicopter, and a third patient was taken to the Tucson hospital by ambulance, and is currently in stable condition.
The Arizona Department of Public shut down the westbound portion of I-10 for several hours while Avra Valley and Northwest fire crew worked to clear the scene.
