Congressional District 1 Republican candidate Jonathan Paton continues to be a favorite in the primary race where he is running against Patrick Gatti and Doug Wade.
Paton has received multiple endorsements over the last few weeks, including a key nod of approval from the Arizona Republic, a daily in Phoenix.
Paton has also been endorsed by U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl, Gov. Jan Brewer, Congressman Trent Franks, and former Vice President Dan Quayle.
The winner of the August primary will move to face the likely Democrat nominee Ann Kirkpatrick.
According to a recent poll, Kirkpatrick still leads Paton 46 to 43 percent, with 12 percent of the voters still undecided.
The poll results were released by North Star Opinion Research, which surveyed 400 likely voters, with a margin if error of 4.9 percent.
CD1 is a large district, created by the Arizona Independent Districting Commission. CD1 runs from Marana and Oro Valley north to the Utah state line.
While Paton has strong ties in the Tucson area, Kirkpatrick has ties further north.
CD1 is 39 percent Democrat, and 30 percent Republican.
