Guests of the Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain can add something special to their stay this year.
On March 31, and three more times throughout the year, those checking in at the world-famous luxury resort in Marana will have the opportunity to volunteer on behalf of the Primavera Foundation, a local community organization that provides needy individuals with pathways to economic self-sufficiency.
Known as Give Back Getaways, the annual event will allow hotel guests to team up with the resort’s culinary team to prepare meals for 110 residents at the Primavera men’s shelter.
Under a chef’s supervision, volunteers will help prepare lasagna, salad, and cookies from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., and will then have the option of joining the hotel’s team in delivering the meals to the Primavera Foundation from 5 to 7 p.m.
“This is a great opportunity to help a local foundation,” said Samantha De La Ossa, administrative assistant of sales and marketing for Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain. “We at the Ritz-Carlton are all about creating some of life’s most meaningful journeys, and this gives guests the opportunity to add extra meaning to their vacation.”
Founded in the early 1980s, the Primavera Foundation each year impacts more than five thousand individuals living in Tucson. The organization’s overall goal is to give individuals and families a pathway out of poverty and homelessness by providing safe, inexpensive shelter, and steady employment.
Over the past 30 years, the organization has expanded its services to also include support services for military veterans, home ownership and mortgage foreclosure prevention workshops, neighborhood revitalization work, financial education programs, and more.
The partnership with Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain has only furthered the organization’s reach in Southern Arizona.
“We are able to do what we do because people in the community make it possible,” said Renee Bibby, marketing coordinator for Primavera. “Meals are more than just food. They are nourishment for the soul. Having the community come forward is empowering and impactful for the people in our shelter.”
Volunteers are still being accepted for the event. Children aged 16 and over, are welcome to volunteer in the event and must be accompanied by an adult. Casual clothing and closed-toe shoes are required. Aprons and materials will be provided for volunteers.
