For the ninth year in a row, Pima County has received the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award.

Only 43 of the 3,007 counties in the United States received the award by the National Purchasing Institute.

Pima County achieved a score in the top 15 percent of all scores earned by 2013 applicants.

Established in 1995, the award is intended to measure innovation, professionalism, technological advancement, ethical standards and leadership attributes. Applicants received scores based on the quality of their vendor training, for example, the certification of their professional staff and the provision of electronic purchase orders.

In all, 16 governments in Arizona received recognition.

Pima County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry thanked Procurement staff for their transparency and productivity.

“This award substantiates the professional approach taken by the County to follow fiscally sound and ethically superior standards in procuring goods and services with public funds.”
