According to the unofficial results, the City of Tucson’s new mayor will be Jonathan Rothschild. Rothschild, a Democrat, is beating Republican Rick Grinnell 41,438 to 30,435.

Green Party candidate Mary DeCamp received 3,617 votes in Tuesdays General Election.

This will be Rothschild’s first term, as incumbent Mayor Bob Walkup did not run for reelection.

This will be the first time since 1999 that a Democrat will hold the office of mayor in Tucson.

In Ward I of the council elections, Regina Romero won in a landslide, defeating Beryl Baker.

In Ward 2, it looks like Paul Cunningham will be headed to the council, receiving 42,206 votes, defeating Jennifer Rawson.

In Ward 4, incumbent Shirley Scott currently holds a slight lead over newcomer Tyler Vogt.

Scott currently has 37,572 votes, while Vogt has 35,818. With 274,706 registered voters in the City of Tucson, 76,133 cast ballots, which is a 27.7 percent voter turnout.

School elections

Voters approved the Marana School District’s override, known as Proposition 400, receiving 6,533 yes votes, and 5,695 votes against the measure.

The controversial Oracle School District bond did not fair well with voters, with 3,125 no votes, and 1,851 yes votes.
