The Town of Marana is seeking comment for the new submittal process for residential photovoltaic systems.
Through Sept. 22, the town will be collecting comments on the proposed process that is scheduled to become official in early October.
The town is working to assist residents who are considering solar power by changing the submittal requirements for the installation of systems.
Under the proposed changes, residents will no longer be required to pay an engineer an average of $500 to perform a site analysis before they are able to install photovoltaic systems.
The new process will require residents to submit a one-line electrical diagram and manufacturer equipment information as well as uplift information. Roof-mounted equipment must have a distribution weight load of not more than four pounds per square foot and less than 40 pounds per point load attachment.
Solar builders may comment on the new regulations through Sept. 22 by contacting Tim Mattix at firstname.lastname@example.org.
