Health and community organizations will be at two Pima Community College campuses on Jan. 23 and Jan. 24 to provide students with information about the importance of health insurance coverage, and resources available for enrollment.
The information sessions will be at Downtown Campus, 1255 N. Stone Ave., on Jan. 23 and Jan. 24 from 1-5 p.m. Sessions also will be held at West Campus, 2202 W. Anklam Road, from 1-5 p.m. on Jan. 23 and 2-4 p.m. on Jan. 24.
“Even if you are young and healthy, having health insurance guards you against astronomical medical bills for accidents or unexpected illnesses,” said Cheryl O’Donnell, Arizona state director for the Get Covered America campaign. “Without coverage, each of us is one step away from being financially wiped out by debt from a visit to an emergency room, which could cost thousands of dollars without an overnight stay.”

- El Rio Community Health Center
- United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona
- St. Elizabeth’s Health Center
- Tucson Urban League
- Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
Last year, Chancellor Lee Lambert and Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild appeared in a public service video message about the Affordable Care Act. “As a public servant I feel it is important that I let our students, faculty, staff and community know about their legal rights and options” regarding health care, Chancellor Lambert wrote in an accompanying blog post.
