Northwest Fire District crews responded to the Valley of the Sun Mobile Home Park just before midnight after reports of a mobile home fire were received by the 9-1-1 communications center. The park is located at 13377 North Sandario which is near I-10 and Marana Road.

Crews arrived within 4 minutes to find a 32 foot long 1963 travel trailer well involved in fire.

Early detection from neighbors along with the quick response time is credited with keeping the fire from spreading to a large 5

wheel toy hauler/camper trailer that was parked within 5 feet of the burning trailer. Northwest Fire crews were assisted by an

engine from the Avra Valley Fire District. 13 firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control within 12 minutes of the arrival

of the first arriving engine.

The trailer was being stored at the mobile home park while the owner was preparing for a project to restore the trailer to its

original condition. There were no occupants living in the trailer at the time of the fire, however, the owner was made aware of the fire and responded to the scene. A significant amount of personal belongings that were stored within the trailer were lost in the fire.

Damage estimates including contents were approximately $1,000.00.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and there were no injuries during the incident.
