On Thursday, March 17, at 3:45, Oro Valley police were on a routine patrol in the parking lot of the Sprouts Farmer's Market at 7665 N. Oracle Road, when someone wanting to report vandalism to his vehicle approached the police. The victim said his car was "keyed" sometime between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Police noticed the driver-side panel behind the driver's door was scratched in a large circular pattern. Police said it was obvious it want an accident or scratches from normal wear and tear. The estimated cost of repairs is $400. The victim said he would prosecute, but there are no suspects or leads. No arrests were made.
On Thursday, March 17, at 11:45, Oro Valley police responded to Canyon Del Oro High School in response to a student believed to be in possession of a marijuana pipe. While in class, a teacher watched a student "clean out" what looked like a pen. When the teacher asked for the pen, the student refused to give it to her and so he was escorted to the administration building. When police arrived, they asked the student if he had anything on him that he shouldn't have. He responded no and agreed to let police search his bag. Police didn't find anything that resembled drugs or drug paraphernalia. During the interview, police did notice signs that indicated the student was under the influence of marijuana. While speaking with the student, his teacher called and said she found the pen in the trashcan. When the pen was pulled apart there was marijuana residue inside. The student was arrested for unlawful use of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Wednesday, March 16, at about 9:30 p.m., Oro Valley police responded to the area of Cassidy and Fair Desert in response to an anonymous caller who reported, "Juveniles in a white Pontiac Sunfire parked near the pool (are) smoking marijuana." When police arrived, they found a vehicle matching the description. The officer turned on his overhead lights and shined his spotlight into the vehicle. The officer approached the vehicle and noticed a glass pipe in the vehicle and the smell of fresh marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver and the passenger were removed from the car and placed in handcuffs. A K9 arrived on scene. Police then searched the vehicle and retrieved the pipe, containing fresh marijuana, along with rolling papers, and an open bottle of vodka. The driver of the vehicle admitted to owning and using the pipe, papers and vodka. The passenger denied knowledge of any of the stuff found in the vehicle. The driver and passenger voluntarily performed a Breathalyzer test, which came back negative for both. The passenger was released, and the driver was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of paraphernalia, minor in possession of spirituous liquor and possession of spirituous liquor in a vehicle
