Snowy conditions close road to Mount Lemmon

The Pima County Sheriff Department released an announcement this morning closing Catalina Highway, the road to Mount Lemmon due to the snow fall.

Only residents or employees with chains or 4x4 are allowed above mile post 14 on the Catalina Hwy.

According the National Weather Service, Snow showers should remain mainly before 11 a.m., with a high near 28. West wind 8 to 13 mph. Approximate total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches.

@NWSTucson reports 4" of snow at the top of Mount Lemmon.

You can call 547-7510 to hear a recorded report, but it is only updated when the conditions change.
