John Flanagan: True enough. Some bills introduced by Republicans or any party in power in the various states of our land may be just plain ill conceived and unnecessary. That is why a free and unbiased press would help indeed, as voters need factual reporting to identify the benefits as well as the perils of new legislation. But as I see it, the Federal government, as most Democrats see it, is not big enough, does not spend enough, needs more power, not less, and those pesky Republicans have the nerve to attempt to leave some of the power of self rule to the states. Not exactly a novel idea. Remember that document called the Constitution? When it comes to an "extremist agenda", just watch the Democrats when they have the power, because you need to look closely at those Democratic Party run monoliths of progressive satellite cities, like San Francisco, Chicago, etc, where decades of Democratic control have made many citizens' lives quite miserable. California, after decades of mostly Democratic politics and fiscal mismanagement, is broke. Of course, when Democratic administrations run out of money, like a spoiled adolescent, they run to their rich Uncle Sam for a handout. Yes, the Republicans need to do better, and the Democrats as well.
