Green Fields Country Day School is introducing a summer camp for students between first and eighth grades. The camp combines an academic boost in the morning with swimming and creative project-based activities in the afternoon.

Camp Griffin, named for the school’s mascot, is offered for either a full day or a half day. The camps run Monday through Friday from June 9 through July 25. The fee is $250 per week for the full day or $125 per week for a half day. Classes are grouped by age.

All morning sessions focus on language arts and mathematics. The language arts segment includes lessons in literature, writing and thinking outside the box to keep summer brains sharp for the upcoming school year.

Lunch and swimming precede the project-based afternoon sessions, which include:

 June 9-13

Music for a Masterpiece – Listen to music from around the world and respond with

artistic expression. Campers will explore the arts, crafts and music of different cultures, then create their own masterpieces inspired from what they’ve seen and heard.

Imagineers – This class uses pantomime, theatre games and simple improvisation to develop communication skills. Activities challenge students to solve problems through their own creativity and encourage individuality through their imaginations.

 June 16-20

All Sports Camp – Lace up your athletic shoes and bring your water bottle. Campers will be introduced to basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton, soccer, flag football, hockey and dance during the course of the week. They’ll have fun and stay in shape!
