Preparing for a challenge that will help raise money for the school in March, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy held an assembly on Jan. 13 to get students excited about the upcoming Mud Run.

Sponsored in part by Discount Tire, the Mud Run will feature a muddy two-mile obstacle course that circles the school, with firefighters present to hose down the kids with water as they race.

Prior to the event, students will attempt to collect sponsorships from family members, friends, and local businesses in an effort to raise money for the school.

Students who fill out their sponsor form and turn it by the deadline will be eligible to win a number of different raffle prizes, including a 40-inch television, an iPad, a portable refrigerator, and various gift cards. Discount Tire will also contribute $400 worth of tires to one lucky winner.

The assembly, emceed by Student Body President Caleb Tvrdy, was held in the gymnasium and included a warm-up obstacle course where members of each class were selected to compete against one another.

Principal Dennis O’Reilly announced that he would also participate in the Mud Run, and encouraged students and the public to get involved in the event.

The school is also looking to acquire 100 volunteers to help organize the event.
