Residents at Clare Bridge Oro Valley, a senior living facility, were treated with a visit from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and some of its animals.

During the course of about an hour, Jesús García, who is an education specialist for the museum, showed off numerous animals to the residents. The animals included a young desert tortoise, Gambel’s quail, Harris hawk, and the Arizona state mammal, a ringtail.

In addition to the animals, García showed the residents the skeleton of a desert tortoise, along with an empty shell. He let the people in attendance touch a wing of a hawk and feel how sharp the talons of a hawk were.

The museum’s outreach program is available for business, libraries, non-profits, and  school and youth programs.
